How to embark on your job search

 Job search series
As you become anxious to getting a job really quickly, it is very important to start your day right while expecting your offer letter. I have a few tips to share with you during this phase of your life.

#1. Start the day on a good note.

Always start each day on a good note, this means the first you should do when you wake up is to thank God for a beautiful day. Be self-motivated and expect amazing things such as a job offer that day. Always keep a positive outlook no matter the stage of job search you are at.

#2. Pray

I cannot over emphasize the need for prayer enough as a prerequisite for starting your day. Take about 20-40 minutes to talk to God about anything you want. Also thank Him and don’t forget to pray for others and also the Nation.

#3. Make a list of what to do for the day

A to do list as it is often called is a great way to put your tasks for the day in place. Write down all the things you want to achieve on the day and cross them out as you achieve them. Things such as sending out your CV to recruiters, learning a new skill online and reaching out to an old friend to see if there are any vacancies at his/her company are examples of a to do list.

#4. Follow up phone calls

Perhaps you might have attended interviews for roles previously or sent out some copies of your CV to recruiters. Please by all means set out time during the day to call recruiters and get updates on the progress of your application. Remember to first thank them for the opportunity to interview with them before tabling your requests and also be polite and courteous in your approach.

#5. Speak to a friend or a mentor

While going about your daily tasks, it would be a good idea to take a short break and place a phone call to a close friend or a mentor- this individual should be a positive person who motivates you and challenges you to be better. By all means please stay away from negative people who do not make you feel good during your job search or people who are always complaining about the light and road situation of the country.

#6. Do something fun

Yes, you have been sending CVs out all day and following up with recruiters, but do remember to do something fun which lifts your spirit. This could be listening to some nice music, drawing, and painting or dancing, whatever rocks your boat and puts a smile on your face kindly proceed and execute 🙂

Thank you for reading.
