Dear soon to be employed Graduate, when last did you Google your name? You might be unaware that social media searches and background checks are carried out before you are employed. Not every company might carry out an internet search on you but for those who do you want to make sure that you have a clean internet history so increase your chances of being selected as a suitable candidate for a role. I have shared a few tips you can use below:
1. Ensure you have an updated LinkedIn profile that details all your past work experience and also your educational background. In updating your profile, always use a professional picture for your profile, most recruiters like to see your face.
2. Your social media accounts should reflect a bit about what you do currently and your interests, so for example, if you are a social media assistant or a content developer then a few of your works should be displayed on your social media accounts.
3. Ensure you do not have any image or content that does not resonate with your personal brand, your personal brand is who you are and what you want to shine forth to recruiters.
